Fishmas

My 2020 Christmas present for my parents. It took 2 summers to complete and has been one of my biggest projects yet! I carved the fish from 2x4's with an oscillating saw and my dremel. Carved the kelp, coral and sand out of plywood with the same tools. I used a dremel to carve the designs in the coral and kelp and painted it all with acrylic paint. I even used salt and pepper to add texture to the sand!

Grammy's 90th Birthday Portrait

My middle name is Joyanna (hence Hethy Joy) and my name sake was my grandmother Joyce (Anna comes from my other grandmother's name). She is the only grandparent I got to meet and I spent A LOT of time with. She passed away last year, but we were able to have a huge birthday party for her a few years prior. I painted this portrait of her as a present and she hung it on her nursing home wall.

Treasure in the Stream

For my college drawing class final we had to create a 18inx24x pencil drawing. It was the biggest project I had ever taken on. I tend to like bright and flowy projects that I can complete in a sitting or two (I'm, unfortunately, impatient) and this assignment was everything I didn't enjoy. This piece was a marathon and probably took over 24 hours to complete (many 4 hour drawing sessions).

The concept was a young girl finding a glowing treasure in her local forests stream. There are many things I'd love to adjust on this piece to make it even more detailed. But for now, I am proud that I managed to finish it!
